Portuguese artist Joana Vasconcelos is representing her country for the 2013 Venice Biennale, a major event in both cultural and artistic scenes.

Éditions Dilecta are publishing the catalogue which traces back the stages of a spectacular intervention.

Present in prestigious public and private collections around the world, Joana Vasconcelos is a known artist on the international art scene. In 2012, she took possession of the Château de Versailles (both the appartements and the garden) with a very noteworthy exhibition.
As a subversive artist, Joana Vasconcelos swings between winking to the public and casting a critical point of view on our contemporary society.
She seizes objects and transforms their practical nature by playing with their traditionnal status (via embroidery, feminine attributes or clichés) and renewing them by often monumental pieces and surprising choices of material (lace, stainless steel, clothe, azulejos…).

This catalogue bears witness of this new project’s breadth by documenting the steps of the whole process, from its conception to its set up in Venice.
