Rina Banerjee is an artist born in 1963 in Calcutta. She immigrated with her family to United Kingdom to the United States. She started at scientific career before before devoting herself fully to her creative vocation, and she graduated from Yale University and was known for her double distinction with prestigious distinctions from other universities. Rina Banerjee grew up in an urban environment, at the heart of a panel of varied cultures, and her artistic work is nourished by the richness of that experience.

Her work, designed in 3d, is an assembly of techniques and mediumsas well as a cultural assembly. Her sculptures mix textiles and diverse textures in order to create hybrid compositions, such as fish bones, feathers, shells, ostrich eggs, ethnographic souvenirs and indian traditional traditional clothes and objects of colonial style. His drawings with equally varied techniques, on paper, or laminated on wood, question the femininity and reveal a work with a mixed aesthetic. The imagination that permeates her work comes to nestle in the titles of his works, short pieces where fantasy and poetry are expressed. More than an exhibition catalog, the book, in addition to presenting views of Rina Banerjee's exhibition at the Nathalie Obadia gallery, brings together a large part of the artist's works, realized from 2007 to today. . The book is meant to be all-encompassing, and offers a rich overview of Rina Banerjee's work, from her paintings and drawings to her 3D pieces. The texts accompanying the works shed light on her work and her artistic career, and reveal the multicultural and advocacy dimension that emerges from her approach.
