This book, which could be considered a manifesto, is entitled Il faut reconstruire l’Hacienda [The Hacienda must be rebuild] and was made after Bruno Peinado’s exhibition of the same name, which took place in october 2016 at the MRAC, Sérignan, France.
This publication is a reminder of Bruno Peinado’s exhibition “Il faut reconstruire l’Hacienda” (October 2016). Composed of photos, stories and texts written by Sandra Patron (director of the MRAC, Sérignan) and Claire Le Restif (director of the Crédac, Ivry-sur-Seine), this book illustrates the concept of hacienda used by the artist to build his exhibition.
The Hacienda is a notion defined by Ivan Chtcheglov in a manifesto written in the 1950s, then the name given to a nightclub in Manchester, where musicians, artists and graphic designers gathered and worked together. It was a place where thoughts were shared, going against the current standardisation of the world. This exhibition, like an hacienda, offered the possibility of building a new social, political and poetic space: every Sunday, various performances were presented (DJ sets, conferences…) inside the exhibition, among Bruno Peinado’s artworks.
This book was produced with the help of the regional museum of contemporary art of Occitanie / Pyrénées-Méditerranée (in Sérignan) and the Pavillon Blanc Henri Molina, multimedia library / Art center of Colomiers.
