Martine Aballéa was born in New-York in 1950, but she now lives and works in Paris.

Her work addresses decorative and natural imagery : it inhabits her photographes, where are punctuated by bright colors, thus creating a surreal and bittersweet dream-like sensation. You must pay attention to every little detail in her work: beautiful images or insiginicant references  are rarely what they seem.

She is well-known for her recolored prints, where images and text intertwine to create stories. In her installations exhibited at Narcissio (Nice, 2016), La maison sans n, at Crac Occitanie (2012) and l’Hôtel Passager, ARC, Museum of Modern Art in the City of Paris (1999), the artist sets up a scene where fiction can be created.

She is represented by Art Concept Gallery in Paris.

« Le musée des amours »  is a fictional story composed, like a soap opera, that recounts the photographic histories of Odile and Marcel as they traverse the maze of a literary salon in a museum. The series ends in 6 episodes, including an epilogue. The idea was conceived of at the « EXTRA ! »  festival guided by Jean-Max Colard of Centre Pompidou, so Martine Aballéa could direct the video.

The photo is not an individual, but rather, it is sold in a triptych.
